Music & Movement from East Africa:
Kamba Welcome Dance
This video is an edited version of the Kenya Sing & Dance version. This dance captures the true hospitable spirit of the Kamba people of East Africa. It is normally danced for visitors while they enter a gathering where they are the guest of honor. The movements at the end of the whistle cycle offer great insight into their culture as well as teach a great lesson for creating peace on earth:
The arms overhead represent holding the guest in high respect.
The arms out front are a welcoming gesture.
The hands on the hips signal the guests to sit down and stay awhile.
